My brain seems to be have hit that point where there is just no more room for words, thoughts or memories. I walk along the beach and think of all of the things I’d like to write about, then I get to the keyboard and I can’t remember a single one. The most frustrating part is that they were all really, really great ideas!
I need to work out how to clear my brain cache, or delete some unwanted data. I mean really who cares about quoting all of the best lines from The Lion King, or remembering exactly how old each of my children were when specific life events took place. Does anyone really need to remember all of the words to songs from the 80’s, Spotify now shows you the lyrics as the song plays. That’s a far cry from sitting with a tape player pressing pause after every line and trying to write it down. To be honest it worked pretty well as long as it wasn’t an Australian Crawl song, I don’t think anyone could decipher all of those.
We are on the countdown to moving to a new house, and even though I have written lists of every possible thing I can think of I still lay awake at night going through the lists in my head trying to work out if I’ve forgotten anything. Of course I will have forgotten something, but I’m pretty sure I’ve covered the basics, although that doesn’t stop my brain from spinning!
You would think that I would be used to this, and that I would have it all under control. In the last year two of my children have purcased their own houses and moved out, our family home has been packed up and sold, my mother in law has bought a retirement unit and her family home is on the market, and we have put our holiday home/transition home on the market and purchased our “forever” home. It has been a very big year.
Hopefully by this time next week the only concern I will have about remembering things will be where I’ve put the coffee in the new kitchen. Wish me luck!
